Guided tours are organized at fixed times every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, the day before holidays and public holidays. Also, the Carsiana Botanical Garden can be visited in complete autonomy using the map and guide, which describe the habitats together with the identification labels of the various botanical species. Connecting Sgonico to Trieste and Barcola

Sgonico is well-connected to the major hubs of the region, making it an excellent base for exploring.

  • By Car: Driving is the most flexible and convenient way to travel. The distance between Sgonico and Trieste is relatively short, and the drive takes approximately 20-25 minutes. Barcola, a popular seaside neighborhood of Trieste, is also easily accessible by car, with a driving time of around 15-20 minutes.

  • By Bus: Public transportation is available, although less frequent than in the city. Trieste Trasporti operates bus services connecting Sgonico to Trieste. The bus journey takes a bit longer than driving, but it's a good option if you prefer not to rent a car. You can check the timetables for line 42 and other local routes.

  • By Rail: While Sgonico itself doesn't have a train station, you can take a bus to Trieste Centrale, the main train station, for connections to other parts of Italy.
